The gesture that changes everything
Alexander finally observed the boy on the ground: the burnt feet, the knees skinned, his hands damaged.
“What are your names? »
“Lucas. »
“You could have left. »
Lucas nodded his head.
“I know what it feels like when no one comes. »
Something changed in the man’s eyes.
He pulled out a bundle of tickets. Lucas shook his head.
“I am poor. Not a thief. »
The words were suspended in the burning air.
After a long silence, Alexander reached out his hand.
“Come with us. Not out of pity. Because you did what many would not have done. »
Lucas hesitated. Fear and hope fought.
Then he grabs that hand — a gesture that changes everything.
The baby laughed again.
In this alley where he had always been ignored, a simple choice had just opened an unexpected door.
Sometimes it only takes a cry and a brave heart to transform a destiny.
