“Got one more surprise for you, kid.”
He handed her a small, wrapped box.
Inside was a silver locket.
She opened it.
On one side was a picture of her father, Daniel.
On the other, a new picture of her, Margaret, and all fifty bikers, taken the week before.
“He would be so proud of you, Cassie,” Jax said, his voice thick.
Cassie looked at the crowd of people who had saved her.
Her real family.
She realized that life isn’t about the circumstances you’re born into.
It’s about the people who show up for you.
It’s about the promises that are kept, even across time and tragedy.
Her old life had been a prison of silence and shame.
But one phone call, one act of courage from a teacher who cared, had started a chain reaction of love that broke her free.
Family isn’t always blood.
It’s the people who ride in to save you when you can’t save yourself, who stand with you in the storm, and who cheer the loudest when you finally find the sun.
